Sony’s latest State of Play event brought a mix of surprises for fighting game fans. BlazBlue Entropy Effect X Announced for PS5, Xbox, and Switch

Developer 91Act has revealed that BlazBlue Entropy Effect X will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in early 2026. Unlike the traditional BlazBlue fighting titles, this new release takes the series in a fresh direction — it’s a roguelike action game set within the BlazBlue universe.

The game features a lineup of 14 iconic characters from the franchise, including fan favorites Ragna, Jin, Kokonoe, Mai, Noel, and more — each showcasing their signature abilities and combat styles.

A Spin on a Classic Universe

Longtime fans might remember that BlazBlue Entropy Effect first debuted on Steam in early access back in 2023 and launched fully in 2024. Now, its upgraded console version — Entropy Effect X — brings the same high-speed action to home systems, possibly with some new enhancements.

However, 91Act hasn’t shared what exactly differentiates Entropy Effect X from the original PC version yet. Players can expect refined visuals, smoother gameplay, and possibly new content when it launches.

Pricing, Editions, and Physical Release

The standard edition of BlazBlue Entropy Effect X is priced at $25, while the deluxe edition costs $35, offering extras like character color palettes, the full soundtrack, and adorable chibi avatars.

PlayStation and Nintendo Switch fans will also get a physical edition, while Xbox players will have digital access only.

The Future of BlazBlue

It’s been nearly a decade since BlazBlue: Central Fiction (2016) wrapped up the main storyline, leaving fans wondering if the series had come to an end. Hopes dimmed further when long-time producer Toshimichi Mori left Arc System Works in 2022.

But there’s still a glimmer of optimism — Guilty Gear Strive producer Ken Miyauchi has expressed interest in reviving the BlazBlue franchise someday, giving fans reason to believe the series could return in full force in the future.

For now, BlazBlue Entropy Effect X will serve as a new and exciting chapter in the saga — blending roguelike exploration with the style and flair that fans know and love.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect X is set to launch on February 12, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
